Thirty Days to Filling Your Heart with Hope

3/11/2013 (Hope for the Day )

There are times in our lives when our world comes crashing down.  Our life seems to be falling apart at the seams, and all we need is a shred of hope to keep us going.  When one horrible thing after another  happens to us, we can't get our balance in life and it's as though we're stuck in quick sand and we are doomed for disaster.

Hope.  We all need it.  In fact, we need at least some form of hope every day in our lives in order to keep us “primed” for those times when the bad stuff comes in torrents.

One of the things that has helped me most is to find a Scripture or two that is filled with hope and to repeat that verse several times throughout the day – not just on the bad days – on the good days, too.  It's like adding deposits of hope to our heart, mind, and soul and when we need to draw from these deposits, we'll have heaps and heaps of hope to encourage us.

One of my favorite verses is:  "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)  This one particular verse has helped me get through many, many difficult, heartbreaking moments in my life.  Just knowing that God has a plan specifically for me helps me to keep from losing all hope.  Knowing that God is on my side when life itself has forsaken me has helped inject me with hope.  This verse has given me the fuel to go on when all else has failed to help me.  This verse has helped me to see the blessing rather than the curse – to see the sunbeams following the storm.  Hope is essential to life!

The Scriptures are full of hope quotes, and I challenge you to commit some of them to memory so that when your time of crisis and despair arrives, you'll have an inner reserve of hope to help you get through.

Following are just two more hope Scriptures to help:

There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. (Proverbs 23:18)

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31)

Hope is believing, trusting, and anticipating that some how, some way, things will work out.  Hope gives us the courage to go on even when presented with circumstances that seem humanly impossible. It has been said that hope is courage with wings.  And, how true that is!

Pause each day and give yourself a vitamin of hope.  Continue to build yourself up each day so that when your time of trouble and despair comes you will be filled with enough hope to carry you through.

Remember always, that one person plus one hopeful thought can create a miracle!  Many times our circumstances don't change, but with hope our attitude about our situation in life changes and that makes the difference between living in despair and living in peace and joy!

Begin today – memorize one hope verse and repeat it no less than five times each day and then look for the changes that take place in your life.  By practicing this for 30 days, you will begin to see the world in an entirely new light.
